Back to Work

back-to-work

Today was a big day. It was my first day back at the Bullseye! In some ways it feels like I’ve been gone from Target forever (including actually looking at a calendar — nearly four months), in other ways it feels like just yesterday when I left for surgery. Either way, it was great to get back in and see familiar faces and feel a bit closer to normal. No, I’m still not 100% on energy level, but it continues to get better and I finally feel like I’m able to make it through the day. Today was a mark of that success.

This weekend was a wonderful way to celebrate. Tony, my cousin from Omaha, and his wonderful friend Wende came up for a visit. We spent our time enjoying Minneapolis — riding bikes around the lakes, taking in the sites and good food, and getting to cheer on Aaron for his weekend softball tournament. As you can see in the picture above, we also rented a four-person “bike” at Minnehaha Falls, riding the paths and heading down to enjoy the view of the waterfall on an incredibly beautiful day.

We also played a little too much Wii… Tony is now a tennis pro in the digital realm, and only after a gazillion hours or so. ;) I also spent a bit of time convincing Tony that it’s time to take the plunge and move here! Regardless of the result, it’s wonderful to have him around when I get to see him. And Wende was a welcome addition.

I’m very grateful to be returning to my normal life. Yes, there are medical bills and future appointment schedulings that remind me, but they don’t require as much focus. Friends, family, Aaron, work, my home… these things are getting the most of my time now, and I couldn’t be happier about that.

  1. “Yay!! Never been so happy to see someone return to work after some extended time off. I will oh-so-sheepishly admit that it’s been a while since I checked in on your blog here, but I’ve been thinkin’ aboutchya lots. BTW, I notice you’ve got, like, 1/4th of a mohawk going on –a “”faux-hawk”", if you will. C’mon, take the plunge and just go for the real deal like the sexy beast you truly are :o)

    Hugs n’ pinches.
